Barbara Bode, Washington, DC Thanks for the invitation to join build-com. On Dec 2 we had a special election for an at-large city council seat.
It was held just after the Thanksgiving weekend and few folks knew about it. For a variety of reasons, I decided to try a three-day online voter ed/GOTV campaign for about 1200 of my "nearest &
dearest" DC residents. I had amazingly good results.
Now I want to expand to focus on two ballot initiatives we'll have up for a vote next Nov.: medical marijuana & riverboat gambling as well as a local political campaign in Adams Morgan &
the rest of Ward One to unseat a city council person who hasn't done anything useful for years.
I've just been feeling my way along with all of this so I'll look forward to learning what approaches others are taking to community building.
